Learning to Love the Girl in the Mirror

Some mornings, she stands in front of the mirror, tugging at her shirt, turning side to side, trying to find something she likes. Most days, she doesn’t. Her thoughts are loud: not thin enough, not pretty enough, not good enough. She scrolls through social media, comparing her body to strangers’, convincing herself she's falling short. Body checks become routine, and the mirror becomes a battlefield.

She never asked to feel this way, but somehow, it's become her normal—chasing an impossible idea of perfection. But lately, something inside her is shifting. She’s tired of hating herself. Tired of letting her worth be tied to numbers on a scale or filters on a screen.

So, she starts small. Writing down one kind thing about herself each day. Following people who talk about body acceptance. Breathing through the urge to criticise. She's learning that her body is not a problem to be fixed and slowly, she begins to appreciate it for carrying her through life.

It’s not easy, and the voice of self-doubt still whispers. But each time she chooses compassion over criticism, she grows stronger. She’s learning that she is enough—just as she is. And that’s powerful.
