Registered Counsellor and Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD)
Helen Dean is an Accredited Practising Dietitian and Registered Counsellor with over 25 years of clinical experience supporting children, adolescents, and adults.
She is known for her integrated approach, combining nutrition therapy with counselling to address both the physical and psychological aspects of eating challenges.
Helen works with individuals and families experiencing all eating disorders with expertise in ARFID, and complex feeding presentations, offering thoughtful, collaborative care that prioritises safety, trust, and lasting change.
Where Nutrition Therapy
Meets Counselling
Food and nutrition can become complicated for many different reasons. A child may be struggling with variety or appetite, a teenager may need support to fuel growth and sport, or eating may have become stressful because of anxiety, sensory differences, ARFID or an eating disorder.
My approach brings together nutrition expertise and therapeutic skills, allowing me to look beyond what someone is eating and understand the factors influencing how they eat.
I work with children, adolescents, adults and families across general nutrition, feeding concerns, ARFID, disordered eating and eating disorder recovery.
Support is practical, collaborative and tailored to the individual, without judgement or unnecessary focus on weight.
I also work closely with families and, where needed, alongside GPs, psychologists, paediatricians and schools to provide coordinated support.
