Over the years of walking alongside individuals and families impacted by eating disorders, I’ve witnessed again and again the deep confusion, fear, and heartbreak that come with this journey. As a parent or carer, it's completely natural to find yourself asking, How did this happen? How long will this take? What do I even do? These questions don’t make you inadequate — they make you human.
You don’t know what you don’t know. And that’s not a failing — it’s a starting point.
This journey is rarely linear. It’s often filled with uncertainty, setbacks, and moments that shake your sense of stability. But it’s also a path where learning, growth, and healing — for everyone involved — can take root. You are not expected to have all the answers. What matters most is your presence, your willingness to learn, and your courage to stay, even when it’s hard.
Be gentle with yourself. You’re doing more than you realise.
