Adolescent Focused Therapy

AFT focuses on the young person’s ability to change his or her own behaviours with the support of the family and therapist. It places the young person in control.

Family-Based Therapy
​
FBT is an intensive treatment for children and adolescents with anorexia nervosa (AN). FBT places parents at the centre of the young person's recovery by charging them with the task of “re-nourishing”

Nutrition Education for parents
​
Helen runs a number of parent support groups focused on nutrition education- topics include: meal planning and support; how to meet nutritional requirements of an adolescent; hyper-metabolism; starting to re-feed and more.

Individual Counselling
​
Based on the individual's needs and requirements- Helen works with adolescents in order to help them work through what they need at that time! This includes anxiety, depression, family issues, trauma, school refusal and attachment issues.

School talks; GP presentations and health professional supervision and training.
Helen offers talks to schools - topics include: nutrition across the lifespan; health and adolescence; eating disorders and the effect on health; body image and disordered eating.
Helen is also a qualified 'Tuning into Teens' facilitator.
Supervision
Helen also provides supervision for dietitians and mental health clinicians
